Employees wellness vital to productivity
PALAPYE - The Deputy Chief Executive Officer for the Botswana Housing Corporation Support Services, Mrs Ntoti Mosetlhe has emphasised the need for employees to stay healthy in order to be productive.
Speaking at the BHC Palapye Area Wellness Expo on Monday, Mrs Mosetlhe described the health of employees as vital for staff members to contribute positively to the objectives of their companies.
She said the corporation was committed to improve the health of its workforce, as the government could not afford to deal with national issues alone.
Mrs Mosetlhe said corporate wellness expo would not serve any purpose if the workers were not receptive of the health advice to choose positive living.
She said for Botswana to have compassionate, just and caring citizens, individuals themselves need to be healthy in spirit, mind and body.
Kgosi Raditanka Ntebele of Palapye thanked BHC for supporting government efforts of having a healthy nation by 2016 by exposing employees to health issues.
He said concentration should not only be on HIV/AIDS, as there are other diseases such as hypertension and cancer which were also a health threat in Botswana.
He appealed to medical practitioners to keep secrets about their patients diseases if they want to win their trust and be able to attract more to come up to test for ailments such as HIV/AIDS.
Kgosi Ntebele said there were indications that some divulge the health status of their clients to other people, as certain information become public knowledge after some have tested. BOPA
