SA YOUTH DEVELOPMENT TO BENEFIT FROM MOU
The National Youth Commission (NYC) and Productivity SA signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Monday 19 February 2007 as part of a national effort to accelerate youth development and productivity levels in the country.

The Memorandum of Understanding will see Productivity SA providing technical support and assistance to the NYC in the following key areas:
· Mentoring: Youth will be enrolled and trained in best operating practices for world-class manufacturing and implementation of turn-around strategies to improve the competitiveness levels and productivity of enterprises
· Youth Development Index: A uniquely South African Youth Development Index will be established to assist in monitoring the developmental situation of young people in the country
· Youth Productivity: Through the National Youth Service, the country’s youth will be targeted with Productivity SA’s S.A. (Pty) Ltd initiative. This initiative calls on all South Africans to become more productive in all their activities, thereby contributing to the economy and improved quality of life of all South Africans
· Productivity SA is tasked with increasing South Africa’s productivity thereby contributing to the country’s socio-economic development and competitiveness and through the MOU will be providing the necessary technical support and assistance to the NYC. The NYC, as a coordinating institution on youth development throughout the country, will be able to obtain data on youth development trends and make accurate recommendations on interventions required by implementing agencies.
